Participating in athletics and school teams can enhance overall balance and academic success, while teaching valuable life skills. Physical wellness is a fundamental aspect of Creativity, Action, and Service. It promotes student wellbeing and provides opportunities for personal growth. Engaging in sports and team activities fosters discipline, teamwork, and resilience, which are essential for success in both academics and life.
Coaches play a crucial role in supporting students as they pursue athletic excellence and personal growth. They prioritize character development, service to others, effective communication, building confidence, and finding their unique spark. Through their guidance and mentorship, coaches help students not only achieve success in their sport, but also develop important life skills and values.
Our primary goal is student participation, with the aim of encouraging all students to embrace a healthy lifestyle regardless of age, gender, fitness level, or experience. Confidence, trying new things, and balance are key elements of our Physical Education program at CHA.
Athletic excellence and discovery
Students engage in Physical and Health Education (PHE) classes as part of their regular schedule. These classes focus on developing key skills and promoting strong personal health and fitness. Students are assessed not only on their athletic ability, but also on their development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The classes are designed to be engaging for all levels of students.
At Crescent Heights, students are encouraged to participate in seasonal sports to develop their abilities and contribute to competitive league play. Participation in sports provides opportunities for skill development within the curriculum, as well as the chance to represent the school in competitive athletic events. We believe in the holistic development of our students through participation in sports.
At CHA, we are committed to promoting active participation in service-related athletic events in addition to our regular Phys Ed courses and co-curricular activities. Our annual Terry Fox Run, Jump Rope for Heart, and Sports Day are important fixtures in our calendar, allowing students to engage in physical activity while supporting charitable causes and community building.
Crescent Heights Academy is an active member of the Greater Vancouver Independent School Athletic Association and BC School Sports.
